Church Organization
Bethany Church is organized under a governance model known as “single-elder-led.” Under this model, the senior pastor serves in the office of “chief administrative head” of the church and the sole “elder” of the church. Members of the church staff report to the senior pastor in his role/office as the single-elder. Bethany Church has historically employed both male and female staff members, all of whom report to the senior pastor. Our staff persons use their spiritual gifts in their respective areas of ministry guided by their commitment to edify the church, grow the kingdom of God, and assist the senior pastor in his single-elder-led authority over the church. Our senior pastor reports to the church and through the church has authorities only as the church delegates to him either through specific guidelines and decisions or through the church by-laws.
Church Board
Bethany Church has a “church board” composed of individuals who are recommended for election by the senior pastor. Members are chosen based on their wisdom and experience in both church and community affairs. They serve to provide guidance to the senior pastor in his role as the single-elder. Both male and female members serve in this capacity.
Deacons
Bethany Church has a “deacon board” composed of men and women who are elected by the church based on their commitment to the unity of the church and growth in the Kingdom of God. Our deacons serve as servants of the church (as opposed to spiritual leaders or decision makers for the church). Both men and women serve in this capacity.
Men and Women Serve at Bethany
In all areas of our church, both men and women are encouraged to use their spiritual gifts and heart for service to grow the church. We interpret Acts 2:17-18 to refer to God’s instruction in the Last Days as a time of increasing need for all persons, both male and female, to be the recipients of the “pouring forth” of His grace as the time nears for the return of Jesus.
